TESTING
Throughout development, every new Volvo undergoes rigorous testing far beyond the scope of normal driving conditions. Dozens of crash tests simulate how the
vehicle will behave in various collision scenarios and determine how well our safety systems protect the car's occupants.
Outside the laboratory, road tests are carried out in bitter cold and searing heat. Engine and drive train performance, handling characteristics, even the
ability of interior trim and fabrics to withstand extreme wear and temperatures, are meticulously measured and reported back to our development teams.
Once in production, parts and components are tested by suppliers before delivery to our assembly plants. Finally, after stringent Volvo quality standards have
been met, production begins. After assembly, further tests are conducted to ensure that all systems function properly. Every day, a number of vehicles are selected
at random to undergo exhaustive test driving and more comprehensive inspections. Only after passing through this exhaustive process, does a Volvo earn the name Volvo.
